Highlandtown Train Garden: All Aboard for Holiday Cheer

You don’t need to seek out the Polar Express for a holiday railroad experience this winter. The Highlandtown Train Garden has been celebrating the season in the Baltimore business district for more than a decade. In fact, Baltimoreans have been highlighting this holiday tradition for generations. From fundraising efforts for local fire departments to train enthusiasts spreading their passion, volunteers have highlighted holiday cheer at the Train Garden to create a must-visit community experience.

From a scavenger hunt to replicas of local points of interest, the Highlandtown Train Garden has brought holiday cheer to Baltimore with the childlike wonder of wintery train scenes. Ultimately a community process, the Highlandtown Train Garden unites donations from local businesses with volunteer efforts. Those businesses that donate will find themselves represented in the train garden with a building or billboard, with promotional literature nearby for visitors to learn more.

With the Baltimore City Fire Department and other community support, the annual Train Garden improves with each iteration. From its launch at the end of November through the close of the season, the Highlandtown Train Garden is a uniquely Baltimorean holiday experience that should welcome children and kids-at-heart for years to come.
